AMCA International elects new president and board members
Art LaPointe, Vice President, and General Manager of Construction Specialties, Inc. of Cranford, New Jersey, was elected as President of the Air Movement and Control Association International (AMCA International) at the association’s 54th annual meeting held in Mont Tremblant, Quebec.
Mr. LaPointe has been an enthusiastic supporter of AMCA and of industry improvement in both the development of new improved performance products, and the furtherance of AMCA Standards written into architectural specifications. Construction Specialties, Inc. has maintained membership with AMCA for over thirty years, and Mr. LaPointe has been personally involved with AMCA International since 1996. Mr. LaPointe has served AMCA as Co-Chair, and Chairman of the Air Control division; AMCA Bylaws Task Force Member; and a longtime member of the Statistical Program Committee. In the last six years he has served as a member of the AMCA Board of Directors, and more recently as a member of the Executive Board holding the positions of Director at Large, Treasure, and Vice President.
Also at the association’s 54th annual meeting: outgoing AMCA International President, Denis Labelle, of T.A. Morrison & Company, Inc., was installed as Chairman of the Board; Michael Barry, of Twin City Fan Companies, Ltd. wasinstalled as the Vice President; Vic Colwell, of Loren Cook Company installed as the Treasurer; George Atkinson, of Hartzell Fan Inc. installed as the Director-at-Large on the Executive Committee.
Re-elected to the Board of Directors are Dane Carey of United Enertech Corporation, Michael Pijar of Berner International Corporation, Dr. Geoff Sheard of Flakt Woods Ltd, C.F. Yang of Kruger Ventilation Industries Pte. Ltd., and Gary Stroyny of Greenheck Fan Corporation. Newly elected to the Board of Directors are Patrick Cockrum of Pottorff, and John Knapp of Ruskin Company.
