CREW Montreal’s 2009 Awards of Excellence recognize the success of Montreal women in commercial real estate
CREW Montreal handed out their first annual Awards of Excellence recently at a gala at the Parquet of the Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec, celebrating the achievements of three women in the commercial real estate industry. Chosen by a jury that includes Michèle Boisvert , editor-in-chief, La Presse Affaires; Me Richard Clare, partner, Fasken Martineau; Renée Daoust, partner, Daoust Lestage Architectes; Yves-André Godon, managing director, hotels, apartments and retirement housing, SITQ and Maarika Paul, senior vice-president corporate services, Bell Canada, the recipients were:
Verna Cuthbert, partner, Fasken Martineau for the Excellence Award. Finalists in the category included Margarita Lafontaine, first vice-president, Colliers International (Québec) and Sonia Trudel, executive director, Real Estate Division, CBC/Radio-Canada and president of BOMA Québec. This honour was presented to an experienced individual who has distinguished herself within the commercial real estate industry by virtue of her leadership qualities, accomplishments and contribution to the industry and/or her firm.
The Rising Star Award was awarded to Caroline Lacroix, director, communications,
public affairs and marketing, SITQ. Finalists in the category included Annie Gagnon
Larocque, lawyer, McCarthy Tétrault and Lise Ricard, senior property manager, Société
immobilière Arcturus. This honour was presented to an individual with less than 10 years of experience in commercial real estate who has distinguished herself by her initiative and accomplishments both in her career and in the industry.
The Women of Action Award went to Marie-Josée Turmel, executive director, capital markets and real estate investment professional. Finalists in the category included Verna Cuthbert, Lawyer, Fasken Martineau and Alison Chave, Director, Institutional Financing, Canada, Desjardins Asset Management. This honour was presented to a CREW-Montreal member who has demonstrated her continued support of the organization and who has facilitated the advancement of women in commercial real estate.
