Sustainable building certificate program expands across Canada

TORONTO — The National Sustainable Building Advisor Program (NaSBAP), recognized through the U.S. and British Columbia, is expanding to include courses in Calgary, Regina and Toronto. As the green building arena grows and changes, so does the need for continuing education for trained professionals. This fall students will be able to participate in the nine-month Sustainable Building Advisor (SBA) certificate program training course and exam specifically designed for working professionals from architecture and planning firms, engineering companies, developers and contractors, government agencies, research institutions, resource conservation organizations, utilities and environmental consulting organizations eager to apply sustainable concepts to the buildings they design, develop, and construct.

In order to accommodate the working professional, the SBA course runs nine months with two classroom days per month. Graduates of the program earn the designation Certified Sustainable Building Advisor, (CSBA). The SBA Program is rated as a 400 Level Mastery Course by the USGBC Education Provider Program. In addition, the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) has approved the SBA course for LEED AP credential maintenance credits as well as the educational prerequisite for LEED GA.
