Fortress Real Capital donates $80,000 to MLSE Team Up Foundation
Fortress Real Capital presented MLSE Team Up Foundation with a $80,000 cheque, the largest individual donation the Team Up Foundation has received since its inception in 2009. The money will help fund the Team Up Foundation’s legacy program, which supports the refurbishment of basketball courts, hockey rinks and soccer pitches.
“We strive to change lives through the spirit and the power of sport, and we work closely with our loyal supporters to bring this vision to life,” said Mike Bartlett, Executive Director of the MLSE Team Up Foundation. This pacesetting contribution from Fortress Real Capital is genuine in its spirit and powerful in its impact. We are truly grateful to Jawad and his business partners.”
“Fortress is thrilled to be able to make this contribution to a fantastic cause,” said Fortress Real Capital’s Chief Strategic Officer, Jawad Rathore. “I’m a passionate believer in the value of sport and the terrific life lessons that it helps teach; teamwork, persistence and fair play. This gift will help brighten and improve this city that I love and am proud to raise my children in.”
Rathore, an avid Raptors fan, has been a season seat holder for close to a decade and has been an annual donor and event attendee for several years. His gift comes from his desire to give back to the community and to provide kids with safe places to learn and grow. The Team Up Foundation is the charitable arm of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment. With a four team, three sport approach, the Team Up Foundation is committed to investing in recreational refurbishments and funding sustainable programs that will provide children and youth, of all abilities, access to sport and recreational opportunities.
