Georgia-Pacific acquires facilities from Grant Forest Products

Georgia-Pacific completed the purchase of oriented strand board (OSB) and related facilities in Allendale and Clarendon, S.C., and Englehart and Earlton, Ontario from Grant Forest Products. “The acquisition reinforces Georgia-Pacific’s continued commitment to the building industry,” said Clarence Young, vice president and general manager of Georgia Pacific’s structural panels business. “We are now offering our customers a wider range of products designed to meet structural needs and a variety of budgets while enhancing jobsite efficiency and profit maximization.”

With the expanded manufacturing capabilities offered at the new facilities, Georgia-Pacific is able to add oversized panels and FSC-certified products to the company’s current OSB offerings. Oversized OSB panels are now available up to 8’ x 26’, providing product solutions that can help decrease the amount of waste generated on a jobsite and air infiltration because there are fewer wall joints.

In addition to a variety of Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI)-certified structural panel and engineered lumber products offered by Georgia-Pacific, FSC-certified products are available from the Englehart mill. FSC-certification provides assurance that wood is responsibly sourced from sustainable forests. FSC and SFI certified products may help achieve sustainability goals in residential and commercial projects.
