According to the University of Calgary’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape, heritage conservation is recognized as an important strategy for identifying and protecting built and landscape heritage resources.
Conservation of heritage buildings and historic places is a vital element of sustainable community development, while representing the past history and culture of a nation.
To advance professional practice in this discipline, the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape is offering a new certificate program — tailored to professionals interested in expanding their knowledge in heritage conservation.
The one-year program explores the links between heritage conservation theory and practice through the lens of research, policy analysis and design intervention at different scales.
“The Built and Landscape Heritage certificate is intended for early and mid-career practitioners in architecture, landscape architecture, planning, engineering and other related disciplines who want to acquire specialized knowledge and skills related to heritage conservation,” says the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape.
The School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape is accepting applications for the new Built and Landscape Heritage Certificate. Application deadline is September 1, 2019. First course towards certificate completion is being offered October 22–26.
