Palais des congrs de Montral earns BOMA BESt certification

The Société du Palais des congrès de Montréal has earned the Building Owners and Managers Association’s BOMA BESt national environmental management Level 3 certification for the building’s superior energy and environmental performance.

“This certification reflects the high standards the Palais has set for itself and met, and it also recognizes the hard work our teams have put in ever since we were Level 1 certified in 2005,” declares building manager Mario Poirier. “Every act counts at the Palais, and we are committed to multiplying our efforts year after year for the range of sustainability dimensions”, adds Poirier.

Recognized as an environmental management leader, the Palais has integrated green practices in many of the aspects affecting the running of its facilities. Examples include lower water consumption, recycling paper, wood, glass, metals and plastic, and recovering unused promotional items after meetings and shows for redistribution to local organizations. These practices are governed by a formal environmental management policy and a sustainability plan.

Other environmental recognitions for the Palais in recent years include earning the AQME Québec association for power management Énergia award in 2006, and being made a member of the Hydro-Québec Energy Savers’ Circle in 2008.
