PCL Constructors Canada honoured with three safety achievement awards
PCL Constructors Canada Inc. has been honoured with three safety achievement awards from the Ontario General Contractors Association (OGCA).
Selected from 11 other OGCA members who individually achieved over 200,000 hours worked without a lost time incident, PCL was recognized as the Category I Winner for outstanding safety performance in achieving the most cumulative injury-free derived hours worked, with a yearly average of 2,414,825 hours over a three year period.
In recognition of achieving over one million consecutive derived hours worked without a lost time injury, PCL was presented with the 2015 OGCA Milestone Award. The total consecutive injury-free derived hours worked by PCL in 2015 was 2,367,379. In addition, PCL was presented with a Distinguished Achievement in Health and Safety award for achieving Zero Injury Frequency. This was in recognition of a three year period between 2013 and 2015, in which PCL accumulated 7,346,369 hours without a lost time injury.
Companies honoured at the event were also recognized by the Ministry of Labour for acting as industry leaders in demonstrating their commitment to workplace health and safety. “We are proud that our passion and commitment to safety are being recognized by the industry,” said Jim Dougan, PCL president of Eastern Canadian operations. “More importantly, by working as partners, and not just individual companies, we fully believe that together we will achieve our industry’s vision of ensuring that everyone returns home safely, every day.”
