SNC-Lavalin completes $46 million renovation of Sheridan Park nuclear facility

SNC-Lavalin is celebrating the completion of extensive renovations to buildings on its Sheridan Park campus in Mississauga. Over the past two years, two office buildings, 2251 and 2285 Speakman Drive, were fully retrofitted to update the facilities with modern amenities befitting a nuclear reactor vendor. Employees previously scattered at nearby buildings have now been consolidated to the campus to bring everyone together and improve workplace synergies. SNC-Lavalin is the sole licensee for CANDU heavy water reactor technology. CANDU reactors were designed as multi-fuel reactors capable of using natural uranium, recovered uranium, mixed -oxide and thorium fuels. CANDU reactors are an important component of low-carbon clean air energy programs on four continents and power over 50% of the homes of the province of Ontario’s 14 million residents.

The improvements to the campus marks a long term commitment of support for the Canadian nuclear industry and to the Mississauga, Ontario and Canadian economy. SNC-Lavalin is a top employer in the City of Mississauga and major contributor to the local economy through a highly educated workforce, and a supply chain comprised of local vendors in the Greater Toronto Area.

Slate Office REIT had invested approximately $46 million to revitalize the property in Mississauga’s Sheridan Park which is home to SNC-Lavalin’s nuclear sector.
