Sustainable Building Certificate Program expands across Canada

The National Sustainable Building Advisor Program (NaSBAP), recognized through the U.S. and Western Canada, is expanding to include courses in Calgary, Regina and Toronto. As the green building arena grows and changes, the need for continuing education for trained professionals has never been greater. Building industry workers need new and flexible educational opportunities. This fall students will be able to participate in the nine-month certificate training course and exam specifically designed for working professionals eager to apply sustainable concepts to the buildings they design, develop, and construct.

“We are thrilled to be expanding the program in Canada this September,” said Dallas Jasper, Director, Brighter Green, Canadian SBA Provider. “The SBA program creates Leaders of Sustainability; Building Professionals who bring sustainable building knowledge, energy and experience to their companies, communities and industry.”

The Sustainable Building Advisor (SBA) program welcomes a diverse range of students drawn from architecture and planning firms, engineering companies, developers and contractors, government agencies, research institutions, resource conservation organizations, utilities and environmental consulting organizations.

Through Expert Local Instructors and Guest Speakers, team projects, site visits to exemplary projects, and access to the latest in green building resources, the SBA program provides participants the information they need to create buildings that are energy and resource efficient, healthy working and living environments, environmentally responsible and cost effective.

The Sustainable Building Advisor Program in now available in Vancouver, Victoria, Nelson, Calgary, Regina and Toronto. The SBA program is offered in 28 additional locations in North America and has been running for over 10 years. In order to accommodate the working professional, the SBA course runs nine months with just two classroom days per month. Graduates of the program earn the designation Certified Sustainable Building Advisor, (CSBA).  The SBA Program is rated as a 400 Level Mastery Course by the USGBC Education Provider Program. In addition, the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI) has approved the SBA course for LEED AP credential maintenance credits as well as the educational prerequisite for LEED GA.
